APAC is expected to hold the largest market size in the Persulfates market

APAC accounted for the largest share of the persulfates industry globally. Persulfates, due to its oxidizing properties, are widely used in various end-use industries, such as electronics, polymer, water treatment, cosmetics & personal care, and pulp, paper & textiles. There are three main types of persulfates: ammonium, potassium, and sodium. All three persulfates can be used as a substitute for each other.

Persulfates are used in end-use industries such as a polymer, electronics, cosmetics & personal care, pulp, paper & textiles, water treatment, oil & gas, and soil remediation, among others. The increasing capacity additions by polymer manufacturing companies in the recent past have increased the use of persulfates, which are used as an initiator during the polymerization reaction. However, there has been a plastic demand setback due to lower consumption in China. The demand for persulfates in these end-use industries is projected to grow at a relatively slow rate in the coming years due to economic slowdown and the impact of COVID-19. For the impact of COVID-19 will be seen for the FY-2019-2020 and 2020-2021 as the growth of the persulfates for these years will be slowed down. These slowing down of end-use industries will have an impact on the persulfate demand until 2021. China is the largest producer and exporter of persulfates in the world, being the epicentre of COVUD-19 has also impacted the persulfates market as more the 70% of the persulfates production capacity is in China.

The global persulfates market size was USD 730 million in 2020 and is projected to reach USD 861 million by 2025, at a CAGR of 3.4% between 2020 and 2025. The growth in the demand for polymers from the packaging and construction industries and the rising consumption of cosmetics & personal care products are expected to drive the market for persulfates in APAC.

Bioplastics & Biopolymers and Its Key Opportunities and Challenges

The market size of bioplastics& biopolymers is estimated at USD 6.95 billion in 2018 and is projected to reach USD 14.92 billion by 2023, at a CAGR of 16.5% from 2018 to 2023.

Growing consumption of bioplastics & biopolymers in the packaging industry, growing demand for bioplastics, and increasing environmental awareness drive the bioplastics & biopolymers market, globally.

The use of bio-based products is expected to increase owing to the growing environmental regulations. Thus, the bioplastics & biopolymers market is expected to witness high growth during the forecast period. Moreover, various regulations, such as banning or implementing additional surcharges on the usage of conventional plastics in shopping bags, packaging materials, and disposables applications, discourage the use of conventional plastics. This factor help in promoting bio-based and biodegradable products, thereby driving the bioplastics & biopolymers market.

Non-biodegradable bioplastics & biopolymers is the fastest-growing type owing to their low price coupled with durability and robustness. These are used to substitute the plastics in applications such as shopping bags, food packaging, and disposables. Key end users are adopting these bioplastics to enhance their contribution to sustained growth. For instance, Coca-Cola introduced the Plant Bottle technology, where PET had been made from bio-based monoethylene glycol (from sugarcane) and terephthalic acid (from petrochemicals).

Packaging is the fastest-growing end-use industry for bioplastics & biopolymers. The high growth in this segment is owing to the increasing use of bioplastics for manufacturing single-use compostable packaging materials including carry bags, food packaging, boxes, and laminating films. Bioplastics are widely used in food packaging, which is expected to witness a high growth potential during the forecast period.

APAC is the fastest-growing market for bioplastics & biopolymers. In this region, there has been an increase in the consumption of bioplastics & biopolymers because of new regulations as well as marketplace advertising. Government regulations in APAC regarding the ban on plastic bags and global warming initiatives are also driving the market. In APAC, the market in China is expected to grow rapidly due to new capacity additions and government legislation. The consumer awareness regarding sustainable plastics along with the pressure from retailers contributes to the rising demand for bioplastics.

Polymer Processing Aid Market by Polymer Type (Polyethylene (LLDPE, LDPE, HDPE), Polypropylene)- Global Forecast to 2021

The global polymer processing aid market is projected to grow from USD 1.71 Billion in 2016 to USD 2.21 Billion by 2021, at a CAGR of 5.2% between 2016 and 2021. Increasing applicability of plastics in varied end-use industries such as automotive, building & construction, consumer goods, and packaging is propelling the growth of the global polymer processing aid market.
Polypropylene to register the highest CAGR in the global polymer processing aid market
The global polymer processing aid market has been segmented on the basis of polymer type into polyethylene (LLDPE, LDPE, HDPE, and others), polypropylene, and others. The polypropylene segment of the global polymer processing aid market is expected to grow at the highest CAGR, in terms of value.
This growth is mainly attributed to the rising demand for lightweight vehicles and increasing usage of polypropylene in the automotive sector. Moreover, expansion of the auomotive industry in the Asia-Pacific region is further driving the demand for polypropylene. Polypropylene carrier resins are used in the production of additive masterbatch, owing to their high melting point, water resistance, low electrical conductivity, good chemical & fatigue resistance, good hinge property, and flexibility.
